Pregnancy massage FAQ

Whether you’re looking to book your own appointment, or buying a gift voucher for your wife, friend or relative, here are some of the most frequent questions we get asked about pregnancy massage. If there’s any other questions you have about this treatment please do contact us.

What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?

Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it can also be an anxious time and as the pregnancy progresses you may feel increasingly uncomfortable and struggle sleeping. All of this is perfectly normal, but pregnancy massages can hugely help you to relax, relieve stress and tension in your muscles and contribute towards reducing anxiety, help with swelling and joint pain as hopefully helping you to get a good night’s sleep. Post-birth antenatal massage can also help your body to recover from giving birth and provide some essential ‘you’ time to relax and unwind.

We like to keep it all about you. The massage will be focused on how you feel and what will benefit you and your body. A lot of women get a lot of attention focused on the baby so we think it would be nice to have some ‘you’ time. The option to have the bump massaged is available to you on the day if you wish.

Is pregnancy massage safe?

Pregnancy massage is a perfectly safe treatment and is specifically for expectant mothers in their second and third trimester. Our experienced massage therapists are qualified in a diploma for pregnancy massage and can also tailor each massage to help you with any specific ailments.

What position will I be in for the massage?

Our therapists will ensure that you are in the most comfortable position during your treatment making you feel relaxed and secure. You will be laid on your side with support from blankets and cushions, making you feel at ease and making sure the position of your bump is right for you.

 What oils/lotions are used?

A standard grapeseed oil will be used due to not being able to use aroma oils due to the high concentration of extracts.

How will I feel after the massage?

This is a gentle, soothing massage that should make you feel calm and relaxed, with improved movement through your shoulders and body. As with all massages we advise you to keep hydrated and drink plenty of water after a treatment.

How soon can I have massages post-baby?

This varies, and is very much an individual decision depending on the type of labour you have had. If you feel well and had no complications you can have a massage as soon as you feel ready, but if you’ve had stitches or a caesarean-section we would advise you wait at least six weeks for scar tissue to heal and seek the advice of your doctor.

How much does it cost? Do you have any special packages?

For a half an hour treatment it will cost £35. We are offering 10% off when you book in five treatments with us and 15% when you buy ten. By doing this it will allow you to have a routinely treatment for you to pamper yourself.
